TRM-004 RHEOLOGY MODIFIER

TRM-004 is a nonionic, solvent free, hydrophobically modified ethylene oxide urethane (HEUR) rheology modifier designed for waterborne architectural and functional coatings. TRM-004 is particularly suitable with acrylic and styrene-acrylic latexes, and can be used in interior and exterior paints, and provides superior flow and leveling, film formation, gloss development and high efficiency for high shear viscosity. The solution contains no solvent and is APEO and OrganoTin free.

Applications

TRM-004 can be used in a variety of latex paint formulations, and is fully compatible with other rheology modifiers. In particular, using TRM-103S or TRM-112 with TRM-004 will increase low-shear viscosity and often provide the optimum balance of high- and low-shear viscosity in flat through gloss formulations. TRM-004 can be a sole thickener when used in semi-gloss to high gloss latex paints based on small particle size hydrophobic acrylic and styrene/acrylic binders.  

Dosage and Incorporation

Typical use levels can vary from 0.2 to 1.5% of paint, depending on the system being thickened and the rheological performance desired. Although TRM-004 is typically added to the letdown, it could be incorporated at any stage of the paint manufacturing process. When TRM-004 and TRM-103S or TRM-112 are used together in small particle latex paints, TRM-004 should be added first.
